July is National Ice Cream month and to celebrate, New Hope Valley Railway (NHVR) is hosting its Brew ‘n’ Choo Ice Cream Social on Saturday, July 29 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
For each train ticket purchased, visitors will get two scoops of ice cream (children under 2 will get 1 scoop) and a choice of toppings from Bruster’s Real Ice Cream of Apex ice cream truck. Bruster’s will serve some of its most popular flavors, including vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, mint chocolate chip, coffee chocolate chip, Oreo, chocolate chip cookie dough, blue pop (Italian ice, dairy free), strawberry lemon (sorbet, dairy free) and orange sherbet. We appreciate Bruster’s coming to the rail yard again this year to serve its fresh homemade ice cream!
Families can enjoy the cool treat before, during or after their train ride. Available at an additional cost is beer from Brueprint Brewing Company and wine from Adams Vineyards.
Also at an additional cost, NHVR’s food vendor Chef’s House will serve baby back ribs with a choice of two sides (candied sweet potatoes, oven baked beans, choice assorted cookies and potato chips) and hot dog combos with choice cookies and chips.
Iconic DJ Productions will provide music and games at the rail yard during the event.
Trains depart at 11 a.m., 12:15 p.m., 1:45 p.m. & 3 p.m. Tickets cost $14/adults, $13/seniors (ages 60+) and $12/children (ages 2-12, under 2 is free). The train ride and ice cream is included in the ticket price. Beer, wine, food and drinks are separate costs not included.
