Steam Locomotive #17

The North Carolina Railway Museum, Inc.–home of Triangle’s Train, New Hope Valley Railway–is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our mission is to educate current and future generations about science, technology, and development of America’s railroads while preserving the heritage of railroading along with its connection to and social impacts on the land, people, and industries of North Carolina and our nation.

When you contribute to NCRM/NVHR, you will help us restore railroad locomotives, railcars, equipment and buildings already in our railyard. We have volunteers ready to complete work on these projects that will expand our museum exhibit space by 70 percent allowing us to display rare and seldom-seen items. All we need are the dollars to finish these efforts. You can make that happen by making a donation today.

Your donation will enable new progress on current efforts and the launch of exciting new ones, including:

  • Completion of the federally required 15-year rebuild of our 1941 Vulcan Ironworks Steam Locomotive#17.
Goldston Depo in the railyard of the North Carolina Railway Museum, Inc

The Goldston Depot

  • Special painting and lettering of our ever-popular 1922 Southern Railway Post Office (RPO) and Baggage Car #188.
  • Installation of 8-foot-high security fencing around many of our historic railroad pieces in our Maintenance-of-Way Yard.
  • Restoration of our 1884 Goldston Freight Depot with public accessibility, a passenger platform (deck), fire protection and lighting to finish our interior interactive exhibit space.

These ambitious projects to make our museum and train operations safer, more informative, and more enjoyable for ALL can only happen with YOUR financial support through a donation to our museum and railyard. Thank you!
