New Hope Valley Railway (NHVR), the Triangle’s Train, will host a new Brew ‘n’ Choo Luau train ride event on Saturday, June 24, from 2-9 p.m. at its railyard in Bonsal, located 30 minutes from Raleigh off of Old U.S. 1 South on the Wake-Chatham county line.
Ride the train in a Hawaiian setting complete with craft beer, wine, pulled pork barbecue and music. Train excursions depart at 3, 4:15, 5:30 & 7 p.m. and the first 500 passengers will receive a free floral lei.
A DJ will start the island-inspired event with games, prizes and giveaways, which includes limbo and hula hoop contests and participation dances. The live band Last Band Standing will follow.
Chef’s House will serve pulled whole hog barbecue with a choice of two sides (Hawaiian cole slaw, luau potatoes or Hawaiian pit-grilled vegetables), hot dog combos with choice cookies and chips, and a NHVR Engineers Breakfast complete with cheesy scrambled eggs, Applewood bacon, country sausage and hearty conductor’s choice potatoes.
Train tickets cost $10-$12 and all visitors must purchase a train ticket to be admitted onto the grounds. Children must always be accompanied by an adult and food and drinks are not included in the train ticket price.
NHVR is partnering with these on-site vendors and entertainers for the June 24 Brew ‘n’ Choo Luau: Carolina Brewery, Doyle’s Vineyard, Chef’s House, Bruster’s Real Ice Cream, Iconic Productions DJ and Last Band Standing.
